Understanding the Water Element Copy Copy
The Water element represents flow. In the body, Water sustains our very life – it exists in our glands, tissues, and joints. Water protects our respiratory system and brain, and nourishes our cells and organs from the inside out.
“Waters” are adaptable, fun-loving, sensitive and nurturing.
Waters are known to be sensitive and sentimental. They are empathetic towards others and effortlessly offer their emotional support. They are naturally social and easy-going, and are great at pulling people together to share energy in various forms of relationships.
Waters can sometimes carry excess water weight, but are not as dense as Earths. Their joints are flexible and they tend to have a more plump, dewey skin.
Waters are nurturing and highly intuitive, but their lesson is to learn how to sustain their personal time and energy to maintain a balanced flow of life.
When Waters are in balance, they are receptive to the flow of life, harmoniously giving and receiving with ease and joy. They effortlessly manifest their heart’s desire. When Waters are out of balance, their generous and empathetic nature bubbles up, and as a result, their energy, time, and resources can drain away. Their environment and the things they expose themselves to play a huge role in how they balance their energy.
Balancing Your Water element
Water needs replenishing.
Your Water Body needs nourishing, tasty meals with highly conscious portions. Great vegetable choices include beets, carrots, cauliflower, eggplant, and asparagus. Your best fruit choices are apples, apricots, and figs. Grains such as buckwheat and soba noodles will make you feel satisfied. Suggested oils are olive and almond. Spices and herbs like cumin, turmeric, cardamom, nutmeg, fennel, dill help reduce inflammation. Enjoy hibiscus tea, hot or cold. Go easy on the dairy and remember to make lunch a priority– this should be your biggest meal of the day! Have a light, early dinner. When possible, get regular lymphatic drainage massages.
Your Water Mind needs nourishing activities like painting, dancing, and being in a social circle. Veering from your usual routine will spark aliveness. Travel to a place you’ve never visited. Wake up to the sound of music. Wear clothing that is colorful, light, flowing. Simplify. Have minimalist decor at home and keep jewelry to a minimum.
Your Water Soul needs loving, heart-centered meditations and daily affirmations. Water natured people are generous with an outward flow, resulting in the need for strong, self-care practices. Chakra balancing, Yoga Nidra, and scented candle meditations are fundamental to your wholeness. A night time sesame oil massage before bathing provides deep soothing. Your essential oils are lemongrass, jasmine, ajwan, clove, eucalyptus, and fennel.
